Around Bastille Day the city started to empty- summer vacations had begun. We were away in Japan most of the first 2 weeks of August, and it is striking coming back, that anyone who had not left in July, is now gone for sure. Our apartment building is empty; we are the only ones here. All of our favorite shops are closed. We had to eat dinner in the more touristy 7e on Friday night, because all of the restaurants in our neighborhood are closed.
It's a ghost town.
